The Best Greens on the Grand Strand

We are happy to say that our golf course is in fantastic shape! The fairways are green and plush. The rough is full and challenging. The bunkers are white and playable. But we are most proud of the greens. Wow! They are fantastic.
Recently we hosted a golf outing for the Grand Strand Golf Directors Association. This group is a collection of PGA Golf Professionals from the area along with most of the package providers and hotel golf directors in Myrtle Beach. Needless to say this group has played a lot of golf on all the golf course in the area.
The discussion after the round was the condition of the golf course. That is pretty typical of any group. The overwhelming topic was the condition of the greens. Words like amazing, fast, smooth, and awesome were being thrown around very frequently amongst the crowd.
We were very happy to hear this response to the hard work that superintendent, Paul Kaufman and his staff has put into the course. We replaced the greens with TifEagle Bermuda hybrid a couple years ago and now they have really grown into probably the best feature of this great Pete and P.B. Dye course.
The putting surfaces are in about as perfect shape as we could hope to get. They are soft and receptive to approaching iron shots. Be sure to replace ball marks please. Once on the green they are as smooth a slick as we have ever had them. The care we have put into manicuring of the surface is rewarding Prestwick and its golf guests with an amazing putting experience.
Currently the greens are in PGA TOUR condition according to many of the PGA professionals in attendance at the outing. The day of the event the greens were mowed and rolled to approximately a 12 on the Stimpmeter (a device used to measure the speed of putting green by applying force to a golf ball and measuring the distance traveled in feet).
